Living with MIES
Photographing The MIES Project residents started to inviting me to their private apartments. It was very interesting and inspired my photographic eye how they designed the space, which was once designed by Mies van der Rohe. There I found out that the spiritual dimension in Mies van der Rohe’s architectural work plays a major role for the people who live in buildings constructed by him. An intriguing question is how people who spend time in the spaces design them on a daily basis. And how did architects and designers shape these spaces, develop them, bring them to life? These are the questions which guide me in the project. What is wonderful is the experience of the great interest in it and, probably less surprising, the common wavelength that usually arises, the great willingness to participate. For this I am very grateful!
